Humberside police proposing a ten per cent rise in their portion of Council Tax

PCC says it's the "only option to meet current demand"

There'll be a 10 per cent increase in the portion of council tax that goes to Humberside police.

The Crime Commissioner's proposals to raise the council tax precept have by passed by the police and crime panel.

It means for a Band D property, residents will be paying over £223, a £24 increase on the previous year.

Keith Hunter says it gives them an extra 2.2 million pound and is the only option to provide a force capable of meeting the needs and desires of communities.
