Coming along to Armed Forces Day in Cleethorpes? Here's the essential travel information you need.
From South Yorkshire, you’re looking for the M180 then A180 straight into the heart of the action.
Other key routes in are the A16 and the A46.
There’s a direct train line from Manchester to Cleethorpes. Major stations are Sheffield, Doncaster and Scunthorpe along the way.
Humberside Airport is just down the road from Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
Park and Ride (operational Saturday 25 June only)
If you choose to come by car, there’s two major park and ride facilities, one off the A180 at Grimsby Docks (follow the signs from the A180), and one off the A46 close to town at the rear of Matthew Humberston Lower school (access from Cleethorpes Road).
The P&R system is operated by Stagecoach with their standard buses. The A180 site is on hardstanding, the one at the rear of MH Lower is on grass.
Blue Badge parking
There is additional parking for blue badge holders at Haverstoe Park but this has limited space. A shuttle bus will run between here and Cleethorpes on 25 June.
Council car parks are free on Saturday 25 June and Sunday 26 June across the borough. However, please note that most of the central Cleethorpes car parks (Grant Street, Yarra Road, Wardall Street, Boating Lake car parks) are all unavailable on 25 June as they are being used for other purposes.
Additional parking is available through private operators across the borough, and Cleethorpes Cricket Club has parking available in the heart of the resort. http://www.cleethorpescricketclub.com/cleethorpes-armed-forces-day-parking-2016/
Cleethorpes regularly has traffic build up. Please be patient and don’t forget to tune into Compass FM (96.4 FM) over the weekend. They will be broadcasting information about parking and highways throughout the day.
