Grimsby cancer patients face longest waiting times on record

Patients in North East Lincolnshire faced the longest waits on record before starting cancer treatment last month.

Only 62% of those urgently referred with suspected cancer started hospital treatment within 62 days - that's well below the Government target of 85% and the lowest figures since 2009.

The trust say they've seen an increase in the number of urgent 2 week referrals and once someone has been given a diagnosis they are treated very quickly.
